Do Not Open Until The World Ends

Sock Monster Studios‘Do Not Open Until The World Ends’ is a short solo journaling TTRPG about imagining a better future after the old world ends. If you're searching for escape and the inspiration of hope in a world that feels increasingly hopeless, this may be the perfect game for you. 

Though designed for solo play, it can certainly be played with a friend or two. It is slow-paced by design. There are no clocks, no deadlines, and no need to rush. Play in multiple sessions of any length, as often or as rarely as you like. Let the world grow in its own time.

In ‘Do Not Open Until The World Ends’ you play as an explorer living in a close-knit community after the end of the old world. One day you happen upon a time capsule. What happens next will have you unpicking long-ago memories, deciphering strange objects and answering questions from the past. Through entries in your journal you will explore remnants of  a collective past to inspire hope for the future, in game and hopefully in life as well.

To play, you'll need the game booklet (digital or printed), a 6-sided die, your preferred journaling materials and a copy of the 'Capsule Deck (digital or printed) .

The game is playable in 1 to 2 hours, although it can take longer, dependent on how detailed your journalling is. After all, time is a capitalist structure better set aside when diving into this particular game.

Download includes: Full colour, black and white and text only versions of the 8 page PDF and full colour and black and white versions of the 'Capsule Deck' that can be referred to digitally or printed for optimal engaging play. 

Originally created for the ‘Build a Better World TTRPG Jam', I intend to further develop this game in the future, including an example play-through. Watch this space for updates!
